Who We Are

We are a local, grassroots progressive organization, founded on the evening of Donald Trump’s inauguration in January 2017. Our first gathering attracted 30 area residents and our second meeting in February brought over 120 supporters together.  Since then we have formally organized, adopted a platform, hosted a progressive speakers series for local and Congressional candidates, and helped organize a town hall meeting on jobs and healthcare with U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders.

Our mission is to coordinate and mobilize the citizens of Southern Ohio and the surrounding region in support of economic revival, civic renewal, and political reform.  We meet regularly in Portsmouth, Ohio, but draw our supporters from Adams, Scioto, Pike, Jackson, and Lawerence counties of Ohio.

Our "Progressive Voices Speaker Series" offers our organizational "stump" to interested candidates and issue advocates. Our community engagement and volunteer efforts connect members to other local non-profits and organizations that share our progressive values and goals.  And our Lantern Blog provides a platform for local news, our opinions and calls to action.

We are unaffiliated with any political party or national organization and our staff is made up of all unpaid volunteers.
